A San Francisco man was arrested after authorities said he struck two children<\/a> riding a bicycle in Half Moon Bay and fled the scene.<\/p>\n

The children, both 6, suffered serious injuries in the Saturday evening collision but were reported in stable condition after being taken to an area hospital, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n

The crash was reported around 5:45 p.m. in a residential area near Grandview Boulevard and Golden Gate Avenue. A witness provided deputies with a description of the driver and vehicle, sheriff’s officials said.<\/p>\n

Deputies searched the area and located the vehicle. With help from the Daly City Police Department’s Drone Unit, the sheriff’s office found the suspect, identified as Robert Schumann, 37, of San Francisco, hiding in a wooded area south of Bancroft Avenue.<\/p>\n

Investigators found evidence that Schumann was under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.<\/p>\n

He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of DUI causing bodily injury, hit-and-run resulting in injury, driving with a suspended license with a prior DUI conviction, and operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level above 0.01% while on probation.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded.<\/p>\n
