Jana Kramer<\/a> is opening up about not being able to afford to give her children the life she wanted for them.<\/p>\n

During a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 42-year-old actress spoke about her new film, \u201cThe One,\u201d and how moving to Nashville, Tennessee has allowed her to give her kids the childhood she had.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember being in Studio City with the two kids, and we couldn\u2019t afford to have a bigger place with a bigger backyard and neighborhoods like that. Again, we just couldn\u2019t afford certain neighborhoods and, for me, Tennessee has just always been a place that every time I land, my nervous system just like relaxes, it feels calm,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

As someone who grew up in the Midwest, she \u201cstruggled\u201d with the idea that some of her \u201cgreatest memories as a child\u201d included running around her \u201cneighborhood and just going from friend\u2019s house to friend\u2019s house,\u201d and staying out playing \u201cuntil the sun went down.\u201d<\/p>\n

After moving to Tennessee, she said it now brings her joy to watch her children having a similar childhood, spending their days \u201con their bikes and going to their friends houses,\u201d noting \u201cit just makes me feel like home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love it here. You can always go back,\u201d she added. \u201cYou can always go to Hollywood, but things have changed so much with self-tapes, which I actually don\u2019t love, but you can. It\u2019s a plane away.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cOne Tree Hill\u201d star explained that while she knows many people who are raising their children in Los Angeles, and \u201cthat\u2019s amazing for them,\u201d she enjoys the \u201ctotally different life\u201d in Tennessee.<\/p>\n

She attributes her affinity towards<\/a> Tennessee to her own upbringing in Michigan, noting she values how she was raised, \u201cthat I just really wanted that same upbringing for my kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress shares two children with her ex-husband Mike Caussin<\/a> \u2013 Jolie and Jace \u2013 and a son, Roman, with her husband Allan Russell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kramer\u2019s latest film, \u201cThe One,\u201d tells the story of an 18-year-old navigating through homelessness after aging out of the foster care system.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember reading the script and just, I love a complicated story, \u00a0you know, I think it\u2019s always fun to play those roles because life is complex,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I loved the story behind it. I loved the faith element. It wasn\u2019t completely thrown in your face, but it was a beautiful thread throughout the movie. And it just had a lot of heart to it. And so I felt that in the movie, and then I felt that pain that everyone was going through. And so, I just really wanted to be a part of telling that story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe One\u201d hits theaters nationwide on Nov 5th, coinciding with national homeless youth awareness month, bringing timely attention to the film\u2019s story.<\/p>\n

The actress shared that the movie<\/a> is \u201cshedding light\u201d on this issue, noting it was \u201cheartbreaking\u201d to see the character portray the feeling of \u201cnot having a home base\u201d and living with the idea that at \u201cany second the rug can be pulled from underneath them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just\u2026 I can\u2019t imagine that as a kid,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s like I think about my kids, and it makes me sad to think about. Them not feeling safe or them being put into unsafe homes because our job as parents is to protect them.
