The San Francisco 49ers lost multiple players during their victory over the Washington Commanders:<\/p>\n
WR Mike Evans (Achilles)
LB Luke Gifford (groin)
CB Upton Stout (shoulder)<\/p>\n
When asked about the severity of Evans\u2019 Achilles injury, Kyle Shanahan said, \u201cJust the same thing that was bothering him all week. Just acted up during the game; couldn\u2019t go. We\u2019ll see how he feels this week.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shanahan said he didn\u2019t think Evans would need further Achilles testing, which is a good sign. Jennifer Lee Chan tweeted that she\u2019s hearing Evans\u2019 Achilles is intact.<\/p>\n
Shanahan added that \u201cit was a pretty close call\u201d whether Evans would play in this game. The two talked leading up to the game, and Evans said he\u2019d dealt with it during his career and felt confident he\u2019d be good to go for Week 6.<\/p>\n
When asked about his level of concern about Evans, Shanahan said, \u201cIt\u2019s something that\u2019s bothered him before, and something that has bothered him throughout the week. When you have Achilles tendinitis like he does, it kind of is what it is. It flared up tonight. I hope he recovers throughout the week.<\/p>\n
But we don\u2019t think it\u2019s a long-term thing. Right now, it almost cost him this game. It cost him two quarters. Hopefully, he\u2019ll be able to play next week. But if not, we\u2019ll have to have the rest of the group step up and hopefully get him healed up after the bye week.<\/p>\n
Shanahan said, \u201cThat was the confidence he gave me, but we knew he might not be able to last.\u201d<\/p>\n
Christian Kirk is a \u201cpossibility\u201d for Week 7 against the Falcons. \u201cHe had two good practices in. It\u2019s just his first two practices of the year. We were down on wideouts, so it\u2019s still something we discussed. But we decided to give it another week.\u201d<\/p>\n
Per Shanahan, Demarcus Robinson will not be ready this week.<\/p>\n
Shanahan acknowledged that \u201cit\u2019s tough\u201d at wide receiver with all of the injuries: \u201cThat\u2019s what you got practice squad guys for. We\u2019ll see how all of our guys heal up. I\u2019ll be surprised if we got Deebo or D-Rob back until most likely after the bye week. We\u2019ve got enough guys in our building.
