Located at 142 W Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton. Lace and Luck is open from 11 am to 6 pm Tuesday through Thursday, 11 am to 7 pm Friday and Saturday, and 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday. Closed on Mondays.<\/p>\n

Today, Evalynne Campos runs Lace and Luck, a boutique focused on helping customers find their personal style and build confidence. But 11 years ago, she was selling clothes online from her bedroom while working full-time at a retail store.<\/p>\n

Before launching her business, Campos attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, where she gained insight into the clothing industry and discovered her interest in sourcing pieces and the business side of fashion. She said she has always had an eye for putting pieces together, but designing clothes wasn\u2019t her strong suit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew very early on that I wanted to be a buyer for certain stores,\u201d she said. Shortly after, she got the idea to start her own online store, and Lace and Luck was born.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt all started in my bedroom. I literally had a rack that I bought, and I went to go buy clothes,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was a little difficult, but it was just online, so whenever someone would place an order, it was easy for me to ship clothes out.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the business outgrew her bedroom, Campos opened a storefront in Anaheim. She later moved to Fullerton for more space. Campos, a Fullerton native, said having a store in the city where she was born and raised was a dream.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have lived here my whole entire life, and I feel like it was natural for me,\u201d she said. \u201cThe social life here, all the good spots \u2014 Fullerton is just home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campos said building her business online before opening a storefront helped her develop a community of customers. Lace and Luck has been in Fullerton for about six years. Campos focuses on outfits that are both stylish and timeless, ranging from everyday basics and graphic tees to seasonal clothes and some trendy pieces.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the store is the perfect mix,\u201d she said. \u201cIn the beginning, I chose clothes that I thought people wanted, and then when it did not feel as authentic, I started bringing in items that I would wear. I think that I found the perfect balance.\u201d<\/p>\n

She still sells clothes through Lace and Luck\u2019s website and stays busy with both in-store tasks and packing online orders. With online shopping growing in popularity, Campos wants her website to be easy to navigate and to feel similar to shopping in person.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it is very important to make online shopping easy both on a desktop and phone,\u201d she said. \u201cWe also try really hard to not use AI pictures. We try to be authentic enough to show what the clothes look like.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of Campos\u2019 favorite parts of running a storefront is interacting with customers and seeing them gain confidence through their clothes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI even have people coming in and saying, \u2018Thank you, I found something I would have never tried on if it wasn\u2019t for you,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI am pretty good at gauging what people will feel comfortable with.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though she describes herself as introverted, Campos enjoys talking with customers about the pieces she has selected.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never realized until we actually opened the store that I really love interacting with customers,\u201d she said. \u201cSurprisingly, it came so naturally to me when people are coming in and asking for certain items, and I can just talk on and on.\u201d<\/p>\n

As an independent business owner, Campos vets all her clothing vendors herself to ensure customers get high-quality clothes at affordable prices. That includes working with Latino vendors as a way to honor her Mexican heritage.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think coming from a Latino community, we want to have items that are cute but also affordable and not sacrifice one or the other,\u201d she said. \u201cNow that I am able to give exposure to Hispanic-owned vendors, I think it is important to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Above all, Lace and Luck has a reputation as a welcoming store, with Campos emphasizing inclusive sizing and kind customer service.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always try to make sure that people are first and foremost comfortable, feel safe shopping and not be judged,\u201d she said.
