Actress Christina Applegate has recently shared the news that she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a development she\u2019s \u201cstill in shock\u201d over.<\/p>\n
After a seven-month hiatus to focus on her health, the \u201cDead to Me\u201d star returned to her podcast, \u201cMeSsy with Christina Applegate and Jamie Lynn Sigler<\/a>,\u201d for back-to-back Oct. 20 episodes.<\/p>\n During the first episode, Applegate, 54, tearfully revealed her doctor said, \u201cCongratulations, you don\u2019t have MS.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI was like, not happy at all. Everybody else was so happy,\u201d she recalled, noting that her frustration stems from the fact that her symptoms are still prevalent despite the misdiagnosis.<\/p>\n \u201cIf anything, I\u2019ve gotten worse. So I\u2019m back at square one where I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on with me,\u201d Applegate continued.<\/p>\n Actress Christina Applegate recently revealed she had been misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis, although symptoms have continued to keep her confined to her bed for years. VALERIE MACON\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n Applegate was initially diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, and detailed her experience with both the autoimmune disorder and her 2008 breast cancer diagnosis in her memoir, \u201cYou With the Sad Eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n While promoting the book in February 2026, Applegate spoke to People magazine<\/a>, and explained that her home has become a safe haven for her as she continues to navigate challenging health symptoms.<\/p>\n Sharing that she spends much of her time in bed with limited mobility, Applegate said her \u201cfavorite thing to do\u201d is drive her daughter to school and other activities.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s the only time we have together by ourselves,\u201d she said. \u201cI tell myself, \u2018Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.\u2019 And that\u2019s what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n Applegate lives in Los Angeles, CA<\/a> with her husband, musician Martyn LeNoble, 57, and daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble, 15.<\/p>\n Applegate has resided in the same Los Angeles home since 1995. Google EarthShe currently lives in Hollywood with her husband of 13 years, musician Martyn LeNoble.Angela Weiss\/Getty Images for Dizzy Feet Foundation<\/p>\n The family lives in a four-bedroom, four-bathroom Hollywood<\/a> home Applegate purchased in 1995 for $950,000\u2014and has lived in ever since, according to Velvet Ropes<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 4,740 square-foot abode is located on a 1.45-acre lot, filled with lush greenery and trees.<\/p>\n By Realtor.com<\/a>\u00ae\u2019s estimated market value of $4.3 million, the home\u2019s value has increased quite a bit since it was first built in 1989.<\/p>\n Although the \u201cAnchorman\u201d actress has called the dwelling home for more than three decades, it\u2019s been updated over time.<\/p>\n In 2016, she renovated the kitchen\u2014which she said was previously \u201cgodawful\u201d\u2014for the first time since moving in, sharing the dramatic transformation with PopSugar<\/a>.<\/p>\n Applegate had been putting off a renovation for years to avoid disrupting the family\u2019s daily life, but when the home sustained significant damage due to a flood and the flooring needed to be ripped up anyway, she opted to give the space a makeover.<\/p>\n Applegate has a 15-year-old daughter named Sadie Grace, and has said that driving her to school is her “favorite thing to do.” Myung J. Chun \/ Los Angeles Times via Getty Images<\/p>\n The result was a bright and airy kitchen and dining area, with sleek white cabinets and countertops, plenty of storage, and chic dark hardwood floors.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s so much nicer, so much more comfortable,\u201d Applegate said. \u201cIt\u2019s a place now where we can celebrate as opposed to a place that we want to get out of as fast as possible\u2014which is what it was like for me for the last 20 years of living in this house.\u201d<\/p>\n The reno also included the addition of a mudroom space, which immediately proved to be useful, as Applegate has a strict no-shoe policy at home.<\/p>\n \u201cBefore, you\u2019d come into the foyer, and it was just shoes everywhere, and it was awful,\u201d she explained. \u201cNow, people can go into the mudroom and sit on a beautiful bench and put their shoes on.\u201d<\/p>\n Applegate hasn\u2019t just lived in Los Angeles since snapping up her longtime home in the \u201890s. She was actually born and raised in Laurel Canyon<\/a>, where she resided with her single mom, actress and musician Nancy Priddy, 85.<\/p>\n During Applegate\u2019s childhood, 1970s Laurel Canyon\u2014once praised for its legendary music scene\u2014had become infamous<\/a> for the drug problems that impacted the area.<\/p>\n Applegate explored her memories of the time in her memoir, opening up about how her mother\u2019s struggle with addiction shadowed her younger years.<\/p>\n \u201cI think I had kind of the worst situation from 3 to 7,\u201d she told People magazine. \u201cBut there was stuff like that going on in all our homes.\u201d<\/p>\n
