Roughly half of the registered voters in Kern County are receiving their voter guides late after a vendor missed the state deadline to send them out.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Kern County Elections Office said last Friday that the vendor, which was later identified to be Porterville-based company ProVoteSolutions, had not mailed out many of the voter guides it was supposed to by last Tuesday\u2019s deadline.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The big picture: The elections office said it contacted ProVoteSolutions after hearing from voters that they had not received their guides, adding that around half of the voter guides had not been mailed yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Monday, the Bakersfield Californian reported that elections chief Aimee Espinoza said she had not received an explanation from ProVote Solutions for the delay.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, Espinoza revealed that the remaining voter guides were sent out last Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She told the Californian that a company representative previously told her that the large number of propositions on the ballot extended the company\u2019s processing time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Why it matters: Voter guides provide explanations on the candidates and ballot measures that voters will be deciding on in the election.\u00a0<\/p>\n
