The city council would need a supermajority in order to override any veto by the Mayor.<\/p>\n<p>Measure EE has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendisclosure.io\/committee\/1494729\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">raised<\/a> $375,000. It\u2019s primarily funded by the California Nurses Association Initiative PAC, which contributed $250,000.<\/p>\n<p>Supporters of the initiative, like Oakland Rising, say that giving the Mayor\u2019s office more power will increase accountability. People in Oakland will now have someone to blame if things aren\u2019t working.<\/p>\n<p>However, opponents of the measure, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oaklandpowergrab.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Americans for Opportunity<\/a>, see the change as a power grab that could cost Oakland over $2 million to implement.
