{"id":506705,"date":"2026-10-24T16:26:43","date_gmt":"2026-10-24T16:26:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/506705\/"},"modified":"2026-10-24T16:26:43","modified_gmt":"2026-10-24T16:26:43","slug":"sharks-igor-chernyshov-exits-game-vs-ottawa-senators-with-injury-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/506705\/","title":{"rendered":"Sharks&#8217; Igor Chernyshov exits game vs. Ottawa Senators with injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KANATA, Ontario \u2013 San Jose Sharks forward<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chernig01.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Igor Chernyshov<\/a> will miss some time after he left Thursday\u2019s game against the Ottawa Senators with an injury after blocking<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SnipeCity420\/status\/2113424792321933393?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u00a0a shot late<\/a> in the first period.<\/p>\n<p>With the puck in the Sharks zone and just over four minutes left in the first period, Chernyshov got in front of a slap shot from Senators defenseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/matinni01.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikolas Matinpalo<\/a> and appeared to be hit in the left arm or hand. Chernyshov stayed on the ice for a few seconds before the Sharks cleared the zone, then skated toward the bench.<\/p>\n<p>Chernyshov stayed there for a few seconds in obvious pain before he retreated to the Sharks dressing room with a trainer.<\/p>\n<p>The Sharks announced before the second period that Chernyshov was doubtful to return. The Sharks moved Collin Graf to the top line with Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith, and Ty Dellandrea replaced Graf as the third-line center.<\/p>\n<p>After the Sharks beat the Senators 6-2 for their third win in five games on this trip, Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said, \u201cI think (Chernyshov\u2019s) going to be out here a little bit, so we\u2019ll have a better update (Friday).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chernyshov entered Thursday with two goals and two assists in 10 games. The Sharks moved him to the top line before the Oct. 13 game against the Boston Bruins. Since then, he\u2019s recorded one assist and seven shots on goal.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Chernyshov doubtful to return after blocking this Matinpalo one-timer. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/SJSharks?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">#SJSharks<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bdri1zuHqm\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/bdri1zuHqm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 SnipeCity420 \uea00 (@SnipeCity420) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SnipeCity420\/status\/2113424792321933393?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">October 23, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Sharks are already without another key forward as center Alex Wennberg is now considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury.<\/p>\n<p>The Sharks are 3-1-1 on the road trip, which ends with Saturday\u2019s game in Boston against the Bruins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll try to close this out the right way and get home,\u201d Warsofsky said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a long trip. I think we still have better hockey ahead of us.
