In-person voting began across California on Saturday, with voters eager to cast their ballots ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm election. <\/p>\n

In Sacramento County, voters could either drop off their ballots or vote in person at designated vote centers. Sacramento is one of 30 counties in the state offering expanded in-person voting options under California’s Voter\u2019s Choice Act<\/a>, which allows vote centers to open 10 days before Election Day. <\/p>\n

“This is my go-to spot every time I vote,” said Rick Duran, a voter in Sacramento. <\/p>\n

For some, this election carried particular significance. <\/p>\n

“I vote every year, but this one felt super critical,” said Gerald Fejarang, who cast his ballot on the first day of in-person voting. <\/p>\n

Fejarang described the process as smooth and efficient. <\/p>\n

“Super easy, but I did all my homework before I came here to make it much easier. They were super cool. They were really nice, seamless,” he said. <\/p>\n

Eben Burgoon, a Sacramento County elections inspector, said there was a line of people waiting to vote early, with less than two weeks of in-person voting available. <\/p>\n

“Really early buzz, there’s a lot of people that are kind of coming in and getting their vote in early, which we love to see. I mean, you have 11 days of in-person voting, so it’s good to take advantage of it,” Burgoon said. <\/p>\n

Having worked previous midterm elections, Burgoon said he is already noticing strong voter enthusiasm. <\/p>\n

“I think already having worked other midterms, it’s very clear, we’re already seeing some pretty high voter energy,” he said. <\/p>\n

Other counties in the region participating in the Voter\u2019s Choice Act include Amador, Butte, Calaveras, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Yolo.<\/p>\n
