U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo., – Air Force women’s soccer (10-4-1, 5-2-0 MW) posted a 3-0 shutout over San Jose State (2-11-2, 1-7-0 MW) on Saturday afternoon in their final match of the season at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The win marked the Falcons’ 10th of the season, their most since 2019, and featured Kendall Rippley’s<\/a> first career brace and a program record for the fastest two goals.<\/p>\n

“It was a great way to close out our season at Cadet Soccer Stadium,” expressed head coach Laura Busby<\/a>. “We defended well and earned a gritty shutout for three very important points.”<\/p>\n

Rippley led the Falcons offensively with her first career brace and six shots, while Chase Borntreger<\/a> scored her fifth goal of the season. In goal, Sydney Nelms<\/a> recorded her third shutout and eighth win of the year after making one save.<\/p>\n

Air Force fired eight shots in the opening 25 minutes before Borntreger put the Falcons on the board. Annika Jost<\/a> delivered a corner kick that deflected off the Spartans’ goalkeeper and ricocheted to Borntreger, who headed it into the net for the lead.<\/p>\n

Just 25 seconds later, Rippley doubled the advantage, setting a new program record for the fastest two goals after the previous mark was reset earlier this season. Jost played a one-touch pass to Rippley, who drove toward goal and finished past the keeper.<\/p>\n

Rippley added an insurance goal in the 48th minute when Addie Doyle<\/a> crossed from the right wing to the senior, who was in position to chip the ball into the net and secure the 3-0 victory.<\/p>\n

Busby said, “We are confident and ready to take on the top of the table next week.”<\/p>\n

Air Force will host the City for Champions Cup at Weidner Field against Colorado College on Wednesday October 28 at 6 p.m. MT.
