Nevada turned a close game into a 28\u201313 Homecoming win over San Jos\u00e9 State on Saturday at Mackay Stadium, scoring three second half touchdowns.<\/p>\n
The Spartans received the opening kickoff but went three-and-out after Nevada linebacker Dylan LaBarbera brought down quarterback Daniel Rolovich on third down. The Wolf Pack answered with a 16-play, 72-yard drive. Luke Duncan converted multiple third-and-long situations, and running back Herschel Turner broke off several strong runs before Duncan connected with wide receiver Marshaun Brown for a touchdown.<\/p>\n
After both teams traded quick possessions, Nevada opened the second quarter with the ball. San Jos\u00e9 State defensive back Jayden Robertson intercepted a deep pass from Duncan, but the turnover did not lead to points. The teams continued to exchange punts, and Nevada\u2019s attempt to convert fourth-and-1 with a direct snap to Dominic Kelley was stopped for a loss.<\/p>\n
The Spartans moved into Nevada territory in the closing seconds of the first half, and Trajan Sinatra made a 27-yard field goal to cut the Wolf Pack\u2019s lead to four.<\/p>\n
Neither offense found much momentum early in the second half. Nevada eventually put together a nine-play, 84-yard drive, capped by a 25-yard touchdown pass from Duncan to local product Trace Estes.<\/p>\n
The Wolf Pack broke the game open in the fourth quarter. Brown threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Turner on a trick play, then Ky Woods returned a kickoff more than 90 yards to set up Kelley\u2019s touchdown run. Nevada\u2019s offense surged late to secure the 28\u201313 victory.<\/p>\n
