Two dozen cars caught fire overnight in a San Jose carport early Saturday morning. Responding firefighters subsequently stated there were no injuries or additional damage. The cause of the fire remains unknown.<\/p>\n
As KTVU reports<\/a>, San Jose Fire Department officials received reports of a carport on fire in the 200 block of Shadow Run Drive and arrived on scene just before 2 a.m. on Saturday. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within an hour. At present, officials with SJFD say they have not ruled out the possibility that the fire was set intentionally.<\/p>\n One witness, identified only as Hanna, told KTVU that the scene “literally looked like Hell.” Thankfully, SJFD said damage from the fire was contained solely to the ignited vehicles. <\/p>\n Another resident who spoke with KTVU on the condition of anonymity claimed to have heard suspicious activity before the fire broke out. <\/p>\n “I hear like a ‘whoosh,’ like an accelerant being thrown onto a fire or lighter fluid onto your charcoal to make your flame grow fast,” the unidentified resident stated.<\/p>\n Of possible significance: authorities say no electrical vehicles were in the proximity of the ignition area nor were any being charged on-site. These specifics likely related to recent protests, both locally and abroad, targeting Elon Musk’s Tesla.<\/p>\n
