(KGET) &#8212; The Kern County Coroner&#8217;s Office released the cause and manner of death for a woman found unresponsive in a house fire in southeast Bakersfield in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The cause of death for Delcy Elizabeth C. Martinez, 75, of Bakersfield was &#8220;complications of smoke inhalation,&#8221; according to the coroner&#8217;s office. Neighbors told officials Martinez was stuck inside the home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Firefighters found Martinez unconscious inside the home and carried her out, KCFD said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Martinez began breathing and regained consciousness before being transported to Kern Medical.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She was pronounced dead at around 12:42 p.m. the next day at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, according to officials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">No one else was inside the home during the fire, KCFD said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
