I agree that the politicians in the city and county of San Diego are dysfunctional, incompetent and tone-deaf to the sentiments of the residents. However, I strenuously object to the U-T recommendation to vote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/2026\/09\/04\/vote-yes-on-prop-43-to-block-state-supreme-courts-rewrite-of-tax-laws\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">yes<\/a> on Proposition 43 and to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/2026\/10\/16\/opinion-why-besieged-san-diego-taxpayers-really-need-prop-43-to-pass\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">piece<\/a> by the president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association supporting it.<\/p>\n<p>In a democracy, all voters\u2019 votes should count equally. If a proposition needs a two-thirds majority to pass, and I support it and you don\u2019t, I need to find another voter to support me to cancel out your vote.<\/p>\n<p>If all voters\u2019 opinions should count equally, all ballot propositions should require only a simple majority to pass.<\/p>\n<p>Justify why your vote should count more than my vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Harry W.
