Gia Corley scored her fourth goal of the season, while a Boston own goal gave San Diego a second-half lead before the visitors found a late equalizer.

San Diego controlled much of the attacking play in the opening half, creating several opportunities through Melanie Barcenas, Trinity Byars, and Kenza Dali. The Wave appeared to break through in the 34th minute when Lia Godfrey converted a rebound following consecutive saves on efforts from Byars and Barcenas. However, the goal was disallowed for offside following a VAR review, sending the teams into halftime scoreless.

Boston opened the scoring in the 48th minute when Annie Karich converted a rebound after Sandra Paños made the initial save. San Diego responded just three minutes later when Barcenas cut inside from the right and found Corley, who fired a shot across the goalkeeper and off the inside of the post to level the match at 1-1.

The Wave completed the turnaround in the 54th minute following another attacking sequence initiated by Barcenas. The midfielder found Mimi Van Zanten, who played Kenza Dali into space on the right. Dali sent a ball across the face of goal that resulted in a Boston own goal, giving San Diego a 2-1 advantage.

Boston found the equalizer in the 73rd minute through Alba Caño. Despite San Diego’s late pressure, the match ended 2-2, marking the Wave’s first draw at Snapdragon Stadium since Aug. 9, 2025.

Next on the schedule: San Diego Wave FC will close out the 2026 regular season on the road against Bay FC at PayPal Park on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. PT. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN as part of NWSL Decision Day, with the Wave entering the final match of the regular season with the NWSL Shield still on the line.

Social: Twitter
