Filmmaker Steven Spielberg<\/a>‘s sprawling Los Angeles<\/a> ranch, where he housed his horses, has been removed from the market\u2014decades after he abandoned his controversial plans to transform the property with an enormous five-story riding facility.<\/p>\n

Spielberg, 79, and his wife, Kate Capshaw<\/a>, 72, purchased the property in 1999 through their corporate entity, Texas<\/a> Tart, for $5.75 million.<\/p>\n

They then listed the massive compound in September for $30 million; however, their plans to offload the dwelling have seemingly been put on pause, with property records now revealing that the home has disappeared from the selling block.<\/p>\n

When they purchased the home, the Hollywood<\/a> mogul and actress unveiled ambitious plans to dramatically overhaul the estate with a 27,000-square-foot, five-story riding facility featuring a domed roof and underground horse stables.<\/p>\n

Spielberg’s vision also reportedly included more than $7 million worth of renovations, as well as plans to construct a 2,400-square-foot guesthouse and a three-story guardhouse.<\/p>\n

However, the proposed transformation sparked fierce backlash from neighbors, who objected to the scale of the project.<\/p>\n

Although the Oscar-winning director reportedly planned to present revised ideas to his neighbors, the elaborate project ultimately never came to fruition. However, he did get a chance to update the estate into the magnificent abode it is today.<\/p>\n

The property remained part of Spielberg and Capshaw’s extensive real estate portfolio for nearly three decades.<\/p>\n

Last month, the couple decided to finally part ways with the equestrian retreat, listing it for $29.9 million with Sandro Dazzan of The Agency.<\/p>\n

Known as Dogwood, the seven-bedroom, 9.5-bathroom estate sits on 2.8 acres in the secluded Sullivan Canyon and offers an impressive array of equestrian amenities alongside its luxurious living spaces.<\/p>\n

“Nestled in the ultra-private Sullivan Canyon, Dogwood is Los Angeles’ premiere equestrian ranch – a rare masterpiece designed by renowned architect Michael Kovac with interiors by Michael Smith and landscape design by Christine London,” the listing stated.<\/p>\n

Spanning two parcels, the property combines a sophisticated country-inspired aesthetic with extensive facilities designed for horses, entertaining, and guests.<\/p>\n

Inside the main residence, rich walnut floors and wood-covered ceilings create a warm atmosphere, while expansive windows bring in plenty of natural light.<\/p>\n

The spacious living room offers multiple seating areas anchored by dual fireplaces, creating an inviting space for relaxing and entertaining.<\/p>\n

That rustic aesthetic continues into the chef’s kitchen, which features extensive wood cabinetry, an oversized center island, high-end appliances, and an eat-in dining nook.<\/p>\n

“The chef’s kitchen with eat-in dining nook and wood-burning fireplace connects to a cozy family room and IPE-clad terrace overlooking a tranquil reflection pond,” the listing noted.<\/p>\n

Upstairs, the primary suite offers a peaceful retreat complete with a wood-burning fireplace and access to a private covered terrace.<\/p>\n

But the property’s most impressive features are arguably those designed for its four-legged residents.<\/p>\n

Across from the main entertaining spaces sits a six-stall barn complete with an executive office, staff quarters, three grooming stations, a feed kitchen, and storage.<\/p>\n

The equestrian facility is topped off by a sprawling 20,000-square-foot riding arena with an observation deck and mirrored wall, which the listing notes is suitable for both dressage and jumping.<\/p>\n

The estate’s lower parcel expands the compound even further with a stylish one-bedroom guesthouse equipped with its own kitchen, rooftop deck, and basement office and storage spaces.<\/p>\n

There is also a second four-stall barn, a 5,400-square-foot turnout area, a private gate, and enough parking for more than 10 vehicles.<\/p>\n

The $29.9 million listing now marks the end of a decades-long chapter for Spielberg and Capshaw, who held onto the equestrian retreat for nearly 27 years after first purchasing it for a fraction of its current asking price.<\/p>\n

Despite having never resided in this property, the couple has plenty of lavish abodes to call home.<\/p>\n

Their main residence is a stunning Pacific Palisades abode, which has served as their home since 1985.<\/p>\n

The property sprawls across 20,000 square feet and boasts a media room, a 14,000-gallon aquarium, and several other lavish amenities.<\/p>\n

Over in Malibu, they own a beachfront abode, which is made up of two parcels.<\/p>\n

They purchased the first parcel in 1989 for $3.3 million and picked up the second in 2000 for $3.2 million.<\/p>\n

The home is situated on a 1.44-acre lot and boasts 144 feet of ocean frontage.<\/p>\n

They also hold the keys to a dwelling in New York<\/a>, which they purchased in 1983.<\/p>\n

The couple snapped up the 6-acre estate and enlisted architect\u00a0Charles Gwathmey to overhaul the abode.<\/p>\n

Over the years, he added horse stables and a lavish guesthouse.<\/p>\n

In 2008, he expanded the property by picking up a 3.2-acre pond in the front of the home for $20 million.<\/p>\n

Also in the East Coast, the couple also owns a 6,000-square-foot apartment building in Manhattan.<\/p>\n
