San Jose City Council is set to vote on a new name on Tuesday for Plaza de C\u00e9sar Ch\u00e1vez.<\/p>\n

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) — The San Jose City Council is set to vote Tuesday on a new name for Plaza de C\u00e9sar Ch\u00e1vez, located in the heart of downtown.<\/p>\n

The San Jose Parks and Recreation Commission recommended renaming it to “Plaza del Pueblo de San Jose.”<\/p>\n

It combines two popular names narrowed down from community submissions.<\/p>\n

San Jose is one of many cities changing the names of public spaces after sexual abuse allegations surfaced against the late Cesar Chavez.<\/p>\n

The park has been colloquially referred to as “Plaza de San Jose” since the allegations came to light.<\/p>\n
