Fresno officers are declining to provide basic details of city council candidate Naindeep Singh\u2019s arrest on Saturday after the police department shared the news Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

Fresno police spokesperson Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said Singh, 48, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a drug. Authorities had not released an official toxicology report as of Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The Bee inquired where exactly Singh \u2014 a trustee for Central Unified and executive director of The Jakara Movement \u2014 was pulled over, as well as the reason for the traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Trueba Vega declined to share any more information, and Lt. Brian Pierce questioned in a text message why The Bee was continuing to inquire about the arrest.<\/p>\n

Singh was not booked into the Fresno County Jail, records show.<\/p>\n

As the public awaits release of the police department\u2019s official toxicology report, a separate, independent drug screen report has begun circulating. According to the report, which is unverified and has not been confirmed by Singh or his campaign, the city council candidate was screened for illicit drugs at Community Regional Medical Center on Sunday. The results all came back negative, according to the report<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a screening test. Positive results are not confirmed. The results of this testing should be used only for medical treatment purposes,\u201d the circulating report reads.<\/p>\n

Singh has not responded to phone calls from The Bee, and representatives for Central Unified haven\u2019t commented. Fresno County District Attorney Andrew Janz did not respond to The Bee\u2019s request for more information.<\/p>\n
