{"id":514556,"date":"2026-11-01T00:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-11-01T00:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/514556\/"},"modified":"2026-11-01T00:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-11-01T00:00:09","slug":"ice-agents-volunteer-treated-at-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/514556\/","title":{"rendered":"ICE agents, volunteer treated at hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and a member of the public volunteering to monitor the agency\u2019s surge of activity in the South Bay were injured and received medical care at a San Jose hospital early on Saturday morning, according to Santa Clara County and a volunteer network.<\/p>\n<p>The four people \u201creported to a county hospital and were released,\u201d according to Santa Clara County.<\/p>\n<p>The extent of agents\u2019 injuries and their causes were not immediately clear. The volunteer was allegedly assaulted by agents, the Santa Clara County Rapid Response Network said in a statement. The group is a network of nonprofits tracking immigration enforcement activity that also provides emergency legal services to immigrants<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can confirm that a person was physically assaulted and dragged into an ICE vehicle,\u201d the network said. \u201cOur rapid responders found her and made sure she was taken to the ER.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>County officials declined to provide more information. Spokespeople for local groups monitoring federal agents referred reporters to social media posts. An ICE spokesperson didn\u2019t immediately respond to an email seeking information about the agents\u2019 condition and assignment in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The Rapid Response Network posted on Instagram Saturday that a volunteer not affiliated with the network sought \u201cemergency medical care\u201d at Regional Medical Center in San Jose. ICE agents were also present at the hospital, the post read. A spokesperson for the network did not immediately comment.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers and members of the public outside Elmwood Correctional Facility, a county jail in Milpitas, were \u201ctargeted\u201d by ICE agents in the early hours of Saturday, the Rapid Response Network posted near 4 a.m. Earlier, the network said agents had used \u201cexcessive force.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the second incident of its kind this week as officials warn residents of heightened federal activity near county facilities in the South Bay.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/10\/29\/man-hospitalized-after-being-tased-by-ice-agents-outside-elmwood-jail-in-milpitas\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A man was also taken to a Regional Medical Center on Wednesday<\/a> night after being tased by ICE agents shortly after he was released from Elmwood jail.<\/p>\n<p>Santa Clara County said hospital workers followed \u201call guidelines and procedures\u201d when treating the agents and member of the public on Saturday.
