The Berkeley Half Marathon is back again this weekend, and the city will be shutting down parking and travel lanes starting Saturday to accommodate the race course, which typically draws several thousand runners each year.<\/p>\n

Roads will stay open to vehicular traffic until at least 5 a.m. Sunday morning but the city will shut down four blocks around the finish line at Civic Center Park beginning Saturday morning. The city will begin enforcing temporary parking restrictions at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

Anyone moving through Berkeley \u2014 by foot, bike, car or public transit \u2014 should expect closures, detours and delays, the city posted on its website Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019ve parked your car on an affected street, move it well before that road\u2019s particular closure time and take note of parking restrictions,\u201d according to the announcement.<\/p>\n

Race organizers have a map of the three courses (there are 5k and 10k races as well as the 13.1-mile half marathon) and roadway detours around them<\/a>, as well as a complete schedule of complete and partial closures<\/a>. Berkeley recommends bus riders track modified routes through AC Transit\u2019s real-time tracker<\/a> and service alerts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The city announcement included a list of \u201csignificant street closures\u201d:<\/p>\n

Interstate-80 eastbound off-ramp to University Avenue: 6 a.m.-noon<\/p>\n

I-80 westbound off-ramp to University Avenue: 6 a.m.-noon; use Gilman Street or Ashby Avenue exit<\/p>\n

Off-ramps from I-80 and Ashby Avenue to Frontage Road: 6 am.-noon<\/p>\n

Frontage Road from University Avenue to Ashby Avenue exit: 6 a.m.-noon<\/p>\n

Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Allston Way to Addison Street: 5 a.m.-2 p.m.<\/p>\n

MLK Jr. Way northbound, Channing Way to Allston Way: 7a.m.-2 p.m.<\/p>\n

MLK Jr. Way southbound diverted at Addison St: 5 a.m.-2 p.m.<\/p>\n

MLK Jr. Way reduced to local access, southbound access, Allston Way to Channing Way: 5 a.m.-2 p.m.<\/p>\n

Shattuck Avenue, Rose Street to Amador Avenue: 7:25-10:45 a.m.<\/p>\n

Shattuck Avenue southbound, University Avenue to Center Street: 7:2510:45 a.m.<\/p>\n

Shattuck Avenue northbound, Addison Street to Rose Street: 7:25-10:45 a.m.<\/p>\n

Telegraph Avenue, Dwight Way to Bancroft Way: 7:15-9:45 a.m.<\/p>\n

Telegraph Avenue southbound, Howe Street to Dwight Way: 7:15-9:45 a.m.<\/p>\n

Several major roadways will also have only intermittent access throughout the day:<\/p>\n

Shattuck Avenue, both directions, at Channing Way, Haste Street and Dwight Way, 7:30-9:20 a.m.<\/p>\n

University Avenue, both directions, at Shattuck Avenue, 7-8 a.m.<\/p>\n

University Avenue eastbound at MLK Jr. Way closed entirely 8:30-10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

San Pablo Avenue at Page and Jones streets and Bancroft and Channing ways, 7:55 a.m.-11:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

Sacramento Avenue at Bancroft and Channing ways, 8:30 a.m.-noon<\/p>\n
