EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State dominated the first half, sleepwalked through portions of the second half, but the No. 17 Spartans eventually surfaced with a room-temperature 79-60 victory over San Jose State, Thursday night at Breslin Center.<\/p>\n
Room-temperature in what ways? The Spartans were at times hot, at times cold, and ended up with a less-than-satisfying, but mostly dominant victory.<\/p>\n
* Jaxon Kohler had a career-high 18 rebounds to go with 17 points, but had moments of slippage.<\/p>\n
* Carson Cooper had a career-high 17 points but was a miserable 5-of-10 from the foul line, and was the target of a full-octane tongue-lashing from Tom Izzo during a time out with 4:39 left and a 23-point Spartan lead having been cut to 10 at 67-57.<\/p>\n
* Jeremy Fears had the best perimeter shooting game of his career. He was 3-of-5 from 3-point range and nailed a catch-and-shoot 15 footer off a curl late in the game to finish with a career-high 15 points. He was 4-of-7 from the field with nine assists.\u00a0<\/p>\n
* Kur Teng came off the bench for a career-high 10 points. He scored all 10 in the first half, but Izzo hollered at him hard for a defensive error late in the first half when Izzo needed to find something to yell about as the Spartans had early leads of 16-2, 28-9 and 40-17.<\/p>\n
