LONG BEACH \u2013 A 66-year-old man who was killed in a collision in Long Beach was identified by county authorities Thursday.<\/p>\n
The victim, identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner\u2019s office as John Leuders, was hit by a car around 9:05 p.m. Sunday as he crossed Wardlow Road near Norwalk Boulevard, according to the Long Beach Police Department.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived at the location, Long Beach Fire Department personnel were treating Leuders before taking him to a hospital, where he later died, police said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe preliminary investigation indicates a white Honda CR-V, driven by a 56-year-old female resident of Garden Grove, was traveling eastbound on Wardlow Road when it struck the pedestrian who was in the roadway outside of any crosswalk,\u201d according\u00a0\u00a0to a police statement. \u201cThe driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speed, distracted driving and driving under the influence are not believed to have been factors in the collision, police said.<\/p>\n
