FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Showers in Coarsegold signaling the first of two storms expected to linger into Monday.<\/p>\n
“We could see consecutive days of what we would classify as ‘moderate’ rain,” said Jeff Smith, spokesperson for PG&E.<\/p>\n
Crews in Visalia kept drains clear and clean ahead of the storm.<\/p>\n
“By maintaining all of our creeks and ditches, clearing those and getting them ready for flows that come through the season, we have also been working to maintain all of our storm drain basins along with cleaning our storm drain lines throughout the city,” said Nick Bartsch, City of Visalia Public Works Director<\/p>\n
The City of Fresno’s Flood Control District System stayed ready on Wednesday afternoon able to handle up to a half inch of rain within a one-hour period.<\/p>\n
“So when we do get a more intense storm, the public should anticipate that we may have some localized flooding,” said Scott Mozier, City of Fresno Public Works Director.<\/p>\n
With fire season year-round an area the Madera County Sheriff’s Office will be keeping a close eye on are burn scars.<\/p>\n
“Where the fires have come through and killed that vegetation increasing potential for landslides and soil movement,” said Tyson Pogue, Madera County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
The agency specifically monitoring the area of Mattie Fhy Road between Oakhurst and Coarsegold.<\/p>\n
“We’re watching that area really closely. I mean to the point where we have some surveillance equipment deployed so we can really monitor for any soil movement,” said Sheriff Pogue.<\/p>\n
PG&E provided its crews with rest periods ahead of the storm.<\/p>\n
“So they would be prepared should we see outages they can kind of work from a 36 to 48-hours consecutively to respond to restore outages as quickly and as safely as possible,” said Smith.<\/p>\n
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office advised residents to visit several of its sand bag locations found on the county’s website and through its free mobile app.<\/p>\n
In Fresno, community members can report downed trees or street flooding through the FresGo app.<\/p>\n
