FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — On Friday night, Central California will learn new details about a crime spree that haunted the Valley for years.<\/p>\n
“Debbie Dorian, who was killed and who set off this long, decades-long investigation,” ABC News anchor JuJu Chang told Action News.<\/p>\n
Chang reports from Fresno on the 1996 murder of Debbie Dorian. She was a few months out of Fresno State when her father found her dead.<\/p>\n
RELATED: ABC’s JuJu Chang sits down with Action News ahead of Friday’s 20\/20 on Debbie Dorian<\/a><\/p>\n Chang goes to the former crime scene at Debbie’s Northeast Fresno apartment complex and to the campus.<\/p>\n “I went to Fresno State and walked across the campus that was really touched by this murder because it went unsolved, and she was a bright, vibrant co-ed,” Chang said.<\/p>\n On Friday, Chang will introduce you to Beth.<\/p>\n For years, Action News has reported on her as “Jane Doe #1.”<\/p>\n She is one of several women Nickey Stane assaulted in Visalia after Debbie’s death.<\/p>\n “What was that moment when she sat down with you and revealed her name publicly for the first time?” Action News asked Chang.<\/p>\n “There were a lot of butterflies all around because we never want to pressure anyone to do something that might impact them,” Chang said. “Beth was so courageous.”<\/p>\n It was the DNA found at the scene<\/a> of Beth’s assault that connected her crime to Debbie’s murder, and later tied Stane to all of it.<\/p>\n RELATED: DNA match solves murder of California woman after almost 3 decades<\/a><\/p>\n JuJu told Action News about exclusive body-camera video that includes a conversation with Stane.<\/p>\n “It’s fascinating to see the evolution and the spiraling of him on camera,” Chang said.<\/p>\n There is also a critical jailhouse call. Action News first brought you details of it two years ago when prosecutors played it in court, but we were not allowed to record it.<\/p>\n On Friday, viewers will hear the call.<\/p>\n “He is talking to family members, and as you know, these kinds of jailhouse phone calls are recorded, and he basically implicates himself (by) saying words to the effect of, ‘I’ve done bad things,'” Chang said.<\/p>\n Chang has spent several months reporting on this, making many trips to Fresno.
