A woman was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing a man during a dispute in Long Beach Sunday.<\/p>\n
The man, who suffered a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body, was taken to a hospital with stable vital signs, the Long Beach Police Department reported.<\/p>\n
Officers dispatched at about 2 a.m. Sunday to the 6000 block of Cherry Avenue contacted the victim prior to the arrival of paramedics. The woman remained at the scene as well, police said.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a dispute that escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim,\u201d according to a police statement. \u201cThe suspect was arrested and transported to the Long Beach City Jail.\u201d<\/p>\n
Melissa Mendoza, 42, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting corporal injury to a spouse\/cohabitant.
