Meghan<\/a> and Prince Harry took a huge leap of faith when they let go of their roles as working royals and jetted over the pond to settle down in California in 2020.<\/p>\n And it seems the couple had a pretty unconventional approach when totally uprooting their lives. The Duchess of Sussex has lifted the lid on her and Harry\u2019s move to the US<\/a>.<\/p>\n Meghan\u00a0candidly admitted at a summit in Washington D.C. yesterday that she did not have the \u201cbandwidth\u201d at that time to think about the \u201cbig picture\u201d after moving to sun-soaked California with Harry.<\/p>\n It was here that she revealed that she and the Duke of Sussex had \u201cno plan\u201d despite making such a big move.<\/p>\n Meghan, 44, said at Fortune\u2019s Most Powerful Women summit: \u201cI think five years ago was a very different situation for all of us. Archie was so little and I had just got pregnant with Lili around that same time.<\/p>\n \u201cSo we were nesting. Nesting and healing. Also, I don\u2019t know if I had the bandwidth at that time to think about what the \u2018big picture\u2019 dream was. There was no plan.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was just, \u2018Let\u2019s just get through these next couple of years\u2019, create community, which was always so important to both of us in our new environment.\u201d<\/p>\n Meghan went on to explain how she and Harry, 41, did find their footing in business and how they going into producing through their deal with Netflix \u2013 \u201ccreating projects that we felt were compelling\u201d.<\/p>\n How Harry and Meghan built an empire<\/p>\n Discussing how this eventually panned out into a business, Meghan went on to explain: \u201cThen I said, \u2018OK, I\u2019ve always loved being able to share, I\u2019ve always loved being able to cook and entertain\u2026 is there a business here?\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I think it was probably most people\u2019s assumption that if I was going to go into business it would be fashion and beauty.<\/p>\n \u201cBut those five years at home \u2013 I wasn\u2019t running around wearing beautiful outfits, I was probably in Birkenstocks and sweats like the rest of us, especially during Covid, or just barefoot at home, but I was making a lot of jam.<\/p>\n \u201cSo it ended up becoming the thing that really was my passion project that I turned into a business.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, we now know that things did work out for Harry and Meghan.<\/p>\n They share a sprawling mansion in Montecito and work on a slew of projects, shared and separate.
