San Jose Sharks forward Michael Misa has missed the past six games due to a lower-body injury<\/a> and isn\u2019t close to returning.<\/p>\n

Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky said the rookie is considered week-to-week<\/a> but will be out longer than two weeks.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old had been following a development plan that didn\u2019t require him to play every game. He was supposed to play against the Seattle Kraken on Nov. 5, but suffered his injury during morning skate.<\/p>\n

While the nature of his injury hasn\u2019t been revealed, Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky shared details about his recovery plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re a few more days away from looking to see [when we can] get him on the ice,\u201d Warsofsky said.<\/p>\n

Misa doesn\u2019t appear to be close to returning to the ice in any capacity for a little bit, but it is encouraging that a plan to get him on skates is about to happen.<\/p>\n

Development of the 2025 No. 2 overall pick is still critical. The Sharks understand that, and so does Misa, who has been at the San Jose Sharks practice facility every day.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, yeah. He\u2019s in our meetings. He was here in the facility all road trip. He\u2019s here early, doing everything he can, in the gym and the training facility. In the video room. He\u2019s sitting in our power play meeting,\u201d Warsofsky said. \u201cLike I said, there are still ways we can continue to develop him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Warsofsky has mentioned on multiple occasions that Misa\u2019s morale while dealing with the injury has remained high. The 18-year-old understands that getting hurt while playing hockey is something that comes with the territory.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s good. Obviously, probably this won\u2019t be his last injury that he misses a little bit of time with [in his career],\u201d Warsofsky said. \u201cHe could look at it as a negative, but it\u2019s also a way where [it is a] learning experience by learning in different ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

At 18, the San Jose Sharks centerman is still eligible to play for Team Canada<\/a> at the 2026 World Juniors. Warsofsky said the team hasn\u2019t even considered his chances of playing in that tournament, regardless of his injury status.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t even talked about that,\u201d Warsofsky explained. \u201cUntil he gets on the ice, I can\u2019t answer that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Sharks\u2019 head coach was not asked about the possibility of Misa going on a conditioning loan to the AHL<\/a> upon his eventual return.<\/p>\n
