Investigators with the Sacramento County Sheriff\u2019s Office are concerned that\u00a0there may be unreported incidents of\u00a0a\u00a029-year-old man\u00a0with an arsenal of weapons and ammunition, as well as tactical gear and law enforcement patches,\u00a0representing himself as law enforcement, officials announced.<\/p>\n

An investigation into Dalmin Muran was launched after the 29-year-old was repeatedly spotted at\u00a0several\u00a0local schools\u00a0engaging in suspicious activity and \u201cescalating behavior,\u201d\u00a0according\u00a0to a SCSO\u00a0news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Muran had\u00a0reportedly claimed\u00a0to others that he had prior military service\u00a0when he\u00a0did\u00a0not and expressed an interest in working as a law enforcement officer.<\/p>\n

SCSO Sgt. Amar Gahndi declined to get into\u00a0specifics but\u00a0told the Los Angeles Times that investigators \u201creceived\u00a0a few messages about alarming interactions\u201d with the 29-year-old, adding, \u2018I\u2019ll leave it at that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Muran was arrested on Nov. 11, sometime after he was spotted at night on the campus of a high school in East Sacramento County\u00a0wearing\u00a0military-style clothing and\u00a0night-vision goggles. When he was told to leave, he\u00a0complied but\u00a0argued with security that\u00a0he should be allowed access because schools are \u201cpublic\u00a0grounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

A search of his home revealed a startling number of weapons, some of which had been\u00a0modified\u00a0from their original state-compliant configuration\u00a0and components and parts to build and alter weapons, as well as pepper-spray deployable grenades, smoke grenades and flash bangs, authorities\u00a0stated.<\/p>\n

Among his alleged cache of weaponry, deputies found tactical gear and dozens of law enforcement patches from agencies, including the Sacramento County Sheriff\u2019s Office and the Los Angeles Airport Police.<\/p>\n

Muran also appeared to have a backpack with SCSO\u2019s patch and\u00a0another patch with his own last name on it.<\/p>\n

Though it\u2019s not illegal to own law enforcement patches, Ghandi told\u00a0The Times<\/a> that\u00a0the department\u2019s patches appeared to be real despite the fact that the sheriff\u2019s office does not distribute or sell them.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s\u00a0unclear how Muran obtained the patches and if he ever used them to pose as law enforcement.<\/p>\n

During the execution of the search warrant, the 29-year-old was also found in possession of\u00a0a short-barreled rifle that did not have a serial number on it,\u00a0which was hidden in the attic.<\/p>\n

\u201cMuran was booked into custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail for multiple felony charges, but was released on bond hours later,\u201d SCSO officials said.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Sacramento County District Attorney\u2019s Office charged him with four felony counts of embezzling property from a gun range,\u00a0possessing\u00a0metal knuckles, possession of an assault weapon and possession of a short-barreled rifle, The Times reported.<\/p>\n

An investigation into the matter is\u00a0ongoing\u00a0and officials urged anyone with information about the case to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff\u2019s Office\u2019s Threat Management Unit at 916-874-5115.<\/p>\n
