A 19-year-old man is in custody after allegedly carjacking and assaulting a woman in Anaheim, officials said.<\/p>\n

The incident, according to a\u00a0news release<\/a>\u00a0from the Anaheim Police Department,\u00a0occurred on the afternoon\u00a0of\u00a0Nov. 19\u00a0in a parking lot near the intersection of Euclid Street and Katella Avenue.<\/p>\n

The victim, a woman, called 911 and told emergency operators that a man had run up to her vehicle, pulled her from the driver\u2019s seat, assaulted\u00a0her\u00a0and drove\u00a0away\u00a0in a Toyota 4Runner.<\/p>\n

While fleeing, police said the 19-year-old caused a collision with another vehicle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithin minutes, officers found the 4Runner unoccupied and the suspect running from the area, the release\u00a0stated. \u201cOfficers gave chase on\u00a0foot,\u00a0and the suspect was taken into custody.\u201d<\/p>\n

The suspect, who has not been\u00a0identified\u00a0by police, was booked for felony charges that included carjacking and aggravated assault.<\/p>\n

Authorities did not say whether the victim suffered serious injuries or if she was taken to the hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re grateful for the victim\u2019s quick thinking and cooperation,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n
