CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — The rain and cold did not dampen holiday spirits as shoppers searched for sales during the 25th annual One Enchanted Evening in Old Town Clovis Thursday.<\/p>\n
“It’s a rain or shine event so it’s gonna happen no matter what. That doesn’t stop the Clovis community. They will come out,” said Jennifer Green, the owner of Once Upon A Time.<\/p>\n
And come out they did. The break in the rain arrived after a series of storms soaked the Valley floor throughout the week.<\/p>\n
Clovis received more than a tenth of an inch of rainfall in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n
The puddles could not keep people like Angela Ponce from pounding the pavement up and down Pollasky Avenue all in an effort to keep local dollars local.<\/p>\n
“Just to support the Mom and Pop businesses because they don’t always do so well. The Big Retailers they get all the money. It’s the local people that need it,” said Ponce.<\/p>\n
“It helps support small businesses and keeps them supported and going longer,” said Makayla Ponce of Fresno.<\/p>\n
“I really depend on the community to support me and all of the business owners of Old Town,” said Green.<\/p>\n
Dozens of small businesses turned their store fronts and window displays into holiday works of art.<\/p>\n
There was something for every one including free horse-drawn carriage rides through Old Town.<\/p>\n
“We start decorating Halloween night. It takes us 18 days to get the store like this. It’s just a magical event,” said Green.<\/p>\n
Green has been the owner of Once Upon A Time for more than a decade and has one wish for those who walk through her home-decor store.<\/p>\n
“I want them to feel like they’re in a Hallmark movie. I just want them to feel the warmth of Christmas,” said Green.<\/p>\n
“That’s one thing I love about Clovis. It makes you remember Christmas. It makes you remember the holidays,” said Josh Montogomery, a long-time Clovis resident and U.S. Army veteran.<\/p>\n
