{"id":64099,"date":"2025-11-21T19:26:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T19:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/64099\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T19:26:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T19:26:10","slug":"santa-ana-man-pleads-guilty-in-17-year-olds-fentanyl-death-from-pills-offered-on-snapchat-orange-county-register","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/64099\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa Ana man pleads guilty in 17-year-old\u2019s fentanyl death from pills offered on Snapchat \u2013 Orange County Register"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Orange County man pleaded guilty Thursday in downtown Los Angeles to having sold counterfeit oxycodone pills to a teenager who died of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/tag\/fentanyl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fentanyl<\/a> overdose.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler David Wilkinson, 25, of Santa Ana, entered a plea in Los Angeles federal court to a single count of distribution of fentanyl.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office and the defendant agreed that an appropriate sentence would be between 14 and 17 1\/2 years behind bars, according to Wilkinson\u2019s plea agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Sentencing was set for June 5 in downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Court papers show the 17-year-old victim \u2014 identified only by the initials B.B. \u2014 purchased the pills in June 2021 after responding to an advertisement prosecutors say Wilkinson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2023\/01\/25\/fbi-looking-into-snapchats-role-in-fentanyl-poisoning-deaths\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">posted on Snapchat<\/a>.
