It’s hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Redwood can now relate to. They fell just short of the Bakersfield Drillers by a score of 24-21 on Friday. The Rangers’ defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Bakersfield’s success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Cavazos led the charge by throwing for 178 yards and one touchdown. That’s the most passing yards Cavazos has posted since back in October of 2024.

Redwood’s loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Bakersfield, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Redwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bakersfield, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Arroyo Grande at 7:00 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Damir Lomax and Zack Tayman.
