Service was restored to two BART travel lines after an equipment problem forced their temporary closure early Monday morning, bringing yet more transportation challenges<\/a> for BART riders.<\/p>\n

BART spokesperson Anna Duckworth said the latest troubles came from an equipment problem on the tracks near the West Oakland station. As a result, the Red Line and Green Line were closed for much of the morning and reopened around 10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

The Green Line runs between the Berryessa\/North San Jose and Daly City stations, and the Red Line runs from Richmond to Millbrae.<\/p>\n

The problem marked the second straight work day that BART\u2019s commute was interrupted on some lines. Vandalism on fiber-optic cables in the tracks caused the closure Friday of the Orange and Green lines from Hayward to the Berryessa\/North San Jose stations.<\/p>\n

The service issues have been ongoing since May.<\/p>\n

Last month<\/a>, BART endured two straight Mondays<\/a> in which issues interrupted the commute. A week before that<\/a>, the agency had to shut down one of its lines and suspend service on the other.<\/p>\n

In September<\/a> and in May<\/a>, the agency had system-wide shutdowns. In addition, BART had to close its Red Line<\/a> from Richmond to Millbrae on Aug.\u00a0 21, the first day that it started its new Tap and Ride<\/a> system.<\/p>\n

BART closed its Yellow Line in eastern and central Contra Costa County on July 2<\/a> because of an electrical outage.\u00a0And fires near the tracks between the Daly City and Balboa Park stations and near the San Leandro station stopped trains service on consecutive days in May.<\/p>\n
