\u201cPaddington the Musical\u201d<\/a> in previews, Studiocanal has announced the launch of \u201cStudiocanal on Stage.\u201d The new label is focused on the development, production and distribution of stage productions of the company\u2019s film catalogue, as well as translating projects from stage to screen.<\/p>\n\n\t\u201cStudiocanal on Stage strengthens our strategy to develop and extend our IP across multiple formats,\u201d said Anna Marsh, CEO of Studiocanal and Chief Content Officer of Canal+, in a statement. \u201cAlongside Studiocanal Stories and Sixth Dimension, this new label gives us a clear framework to grow our catalogue and bring our stories to new audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cThe Producers\u201d was adapted from the Studiocanal library film and is a revival of Mel Brooks\u2019 musical, which won 12 Tony Awards, including best musical. The show runs through Sept. 2026. \u201cPaddington\u201d is adapted from Michael Bond\u2019s beloved book series and the award-winning Studiocanal films, which have earned more than $700 million at the global box office. The musical production opens on Nov. 30 and is booked through May 2026.<\/p>\n
\n\tPrevious Studiocanal library films that have been adapted for the stage include \u201cThe Graduate,\u201d \u201cEvil Dead,\u201d \u201cThe Ladykillers,\u201d \u201cBilly Elliot\u201d and \u201cThe Third Man\u201d (co-licensed with the estate of Graham Greene).<\/p>\n
\n\tOther productions set to debut this year include \u201cRestless Natives,\u201d \u201cSummer Holiday\u201d and \u201cA Boy Called Christmas.\u201d In development is \u201cKind Hearts and Coronets,\u201d which inspired the upcoming film \u201cHow to Make a Killing.\u201d Glen Powell and Margaret Qualley star in the movie, which opens in theaters next year via A24 in the U.S. Other titles include \u201cThe Belles of St. Trinians\u201d and \u201cThe Proud Valley.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tAlternatively, Studiocanal is also focused on bringing adaptations from stage to screen; the company is currently shooting the Danny Boyle-directed adaptation of James Graham\u2019s \u201cInk\u201d and is in post-production on \u201cPressure,\u201d directed by Anthony Maras and based on David Haig\u2019s critically acclaimed play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Tuesday, November 25 Education Through Music-Los Angeles is set to honor songwriter Diane Warren.
