The NHL is more than 25% through the 2025-26 season, and the Sharks have “seen the most significant increase” in attendance from last year, according to Dayal & Mirtle of THE ATHLETIC. The Sharks are “not even close” to any other club, as they are up 15.2%, increase of 2,056 fans per game. The team last season “drew meager crowds of 10,000-11,200” during seven of their first 13 home games it was the only team in the league “selling at less than” 80% of its capacity at the comparable point of the campaign. This year, SAP Center has “yet to dip below 12,000 fans” for a game and has “had several sellouts.” It was atypical that the Sharks did not “get an immediate attendance bump last season from the excitement and hype” of 2024 No. 1 pick C Macklin Celebrini. However, there is “likely a catch-up effect” now that Celebrini has “firmly established himself as a must-see player.” Meanwhile, the biggest attendance decline so far this season goes to the Wild, who after a slow start are on pace for their “lowest attendance figure ever.” They are down 6.3% overall, a decline of 1,152 fans per game. The Wild, though, have “caught fire on the ice lately,” which “should help ease the fans’ base-level angst.” However, the “bigger issue for the Wild is likely a deeper malaise over the team’s inability to make inroads as a Western Conference contender” (THE ATHLETIC, 11/26).

The NHL is more than 25% through the 2025-26 season, and the Sharks have “seen the most significant…

[29
401,404,88,90,89,41737
post-70920","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-san-jose","tag-hockey","tag-nhl","tag-san-jose","tag-san-jose-headlines","tag-san-jose-news","tag-ticketing
["GET
