A woman accused of tossing a small dog over a fence behind an Anaheim veterinary clinic earlier this month has been arrested for felony animal cruelty, police announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Anaheim police said 30-year-old Tyler Thompson, a resident of Anaheim, was taken into custody following a two-week investigation into the Nov. 12 incident outside the University Veterinary Center on Glenoaks Avenue.<\/p>\n

Surveillance video<\/a> released by the clinic showed a woman walking through the alleyway behind the building around 1:30 a.m., carrying a white bag. She can be seen approaching the rear fence, lifting the bag and throwing it over the side before walking away. In one camera angle, the dog can be heard hitting the ground inside the enclosed yard.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the dog,\u201d UVC Medical Director Dr. Ash Hakhamian told KTLA while showing images of the animal\u2019s injuries. \u201cHe had more problems than just those caused by the throw \u2026 he was suffering from serious neglect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hakhamian said the small white dog was malnourished, missing several teeth and appeared to have suffered trauma to the front of his face. The dog \u201cate so fast it looked like he hadn\u2019t had a meal in God knows how long,\u201d he said in the earlier interview.<\/p>\n

Police said they collected surveillance video from an apartment complex directly across from the clinic, where the woman in the video appeared to be walking from. Officers were seen going in and out of the complex the day after the incident while gathering evidence. At the time, investigators said they had identified and questioned a suspect but had not yet made an arrest.<\/p>\n

The dog was stabilized at the veterinary hospital and later transferred to a private facility, where he remained in critical condition and, as of Nov. 12, was receiving around-the-clock care from Orange County Animal Care, officials said.<\/p>\n

No additional details about Thompson\u2019s booking were immediately released.<\/p>\n
