It doesn\u2019t seem real sometimes,\u201d he said. \u201cI wake up every morning and I cry my eyes out and I just try to stay strong for my kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">His wife Jessie, a mom of two, was hit and killed at the intersection of Terrace and Darragh Streets in Oakland on December 5, 2024. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cMe and her were together for 20 years. That was my best friend,\u201d Brian said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Police say she was hit by a white box truck. The driver turned himself in, but no charges were ever filed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/woman-killed-hit-and-run-while-crossing-street-oakland-police-working-identify-driver\/SHAAA6MQWFFT7BGQHDUK2ZG6Q4\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/woman-killed-hit-and-run-while-crossing-street-oakland-police-working-identify-driver\/SHAAA6MQWFFT7BGQHDUK2ZG6Q4\/\">PREVIOUS COVERAGE &gt;&gt;&gt; Woman killed in hit-and-run while crossing street in Oakland; suspected driver, vehicle found <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">On the one-year anniversary of her death, Brian is planning to honor his wife and other victims of traffic violence. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Emily Watson, Jeanne Flaherty and Barbara Como were all struck and killed near that intersection in the last few years. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">There have been some changes to the intersection, but Brian says he wants to see more. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cIlluminate a crosswalk.
