Presented by the nonprofit Jason Mraz Foundation, the two concerts will take place Feb. 14 and 15 at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Both are being billed as \u201cDream\u201d and will feature performances by Mraz and fellow singer-songwriters Raul Midon, Albert Posis, and Connie Kimberly Lim, who performs as Milck.<\/p>\n
Also taking the stage will be members from all of the five nonprofits, each of which meets at least one of the Mraz foundation\u2019s goals of championing inclusive arts education, the advancement of equality, and providing food security.<\/p>\n
The five organizations are the chamber-music-and-beyond presenter Art of Elan, which strives to present concerts in unique performance venues and showcases specially commissioned compositions; Culture Shock, which uses dance as a means of self-empowerment and education to inspire positive change; the San Diego Young Artists Music Academy, which uses music and educational tutoring as deterrents to drugs and violence; PASACAT Philippine Performing Arts Academy, which preserves and showcases Asian Pacific culture through the arts; and Arms Wide Open, which focuses on enriching children and adults with special needs by providing caring social environments and creating opportunities for recreation and participation in the arts.<\/p>\n

Mraz will also perform a sold-out concert at The Sound in Del Mar on Oct. 30. Tickets are still available for his Oct. 28 show at the same venue. He completed a 21-date tour of Europe on Monday with fellow San Diego singer-songwriter Gregory Page.<\/p>\n
\u201cDream\u201d marks the third community concert the Mraz foundation has presented since 2016. That was the year the foundation became a \u00a0501(c)(3) nonprofit, after five years as a Donor Advised Fund.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was always my hope that this event would blossom into a multi-artist community celebration of the arts,\u201d Mraz said in a statement issued Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an honor and a privilege for all of us to share the stage together; creating harmony through collaboration, unity through diversity, and peace through playfulness.\u201d<\/p>\n
His foundation has raised more than $2 million since its inception. He explained his vision for the organization in a 2016 San Diego Union-Tribune interview, saying: \u201cThe four pillars of the foundation are: Arts and education; assistance and recovery; environmental and preservation; and human rights and (anti-) slavery. We\u2019ll invite other charities to join us, because it is such a broad spectrum, and we can help keep a light shining on everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
