(Photo courtesy of OnScene.TV)<\/p>\n<p>Four people were killed and 10 wounded in a shooting during a family gathering at a banquet hall in Stockton, sheriff\u2019s officials said Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The victims included both children and adults, said Heather Brent, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County <a href=\"https:\/\/sjsheriff.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sheriff\u2019s office<\/a>. Early indications \u201csuggest this may have been a targeted incident,\u201d Brent said during a news conference at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Local officials said the suspected shooter has not been caught and pleaded with the public for help. Detectives were still working to identify a possible motive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have any information as to this individual, reach out immediately. If you are this individual, turn yourself in immediately,\u201d San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas said during a news conference.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting occurred just before 6 p.m. inside the banquet hall, which shares a parking lot with other businesses. Stockton is a city of 320,000 about 40 miles south of Sacramento.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFamilies should be together instead of at the hospital, standing next to their loved one, praying that they survive,\u201d Mayor Christina Fugazzi said.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities did not immediately provide additional information about the conditions of the victims. Officials said earlier that several were taken to hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>This latest incident adds to a history of gun violence in the city, including the unsolved 2024 killing of 31-year-old Carlos Honable, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/stocktonia.org\/news\/public-safety\/2024\/10\/21\/fbi-releases-sketch-of-suspect-in-drive-by-shooting\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shot multiple times<\/a> while sitting in his parked car on Fairburn Way.<\/p>\n<p>Stockton also continues to grapple with the legacy of one of the nation\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/stocktonia.org\/news\/culture\/2024\/01\/17\/cleveland-school-shooting-survivors-reflect-on-deadly-rampage-and-where-they-are-now\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">deadliest school shootings<\/a>.
