What is surprising is how badly she misreads the state\u2019s cost-of-living crisis. Ms. Finley writes that while the \u201cpoor will always be with California . . . the same isn\u2019t true of businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"paragraph\" data=\"[object Object]\" class=\"css-1akm6h5-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\">Here\u2019s the truth: California is the best state in the country to start and grow a business. That must never change. The reason so many Californians are struggling to afford to stay here is that we\u2019ve coddled powerful interests for too long. To use one example, we\u2019ve let utilities, backed by armies of lobbyists in Sacramento, raise customers\u2019 electricity bills while earning government-guaranteed, double-digit returns.
