PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) \u2014\u00a0A California man has been convicted in the 2022 shooting death that left his twin brother dead outside a Portland hotel.<\/p>\n

A Multnomah County jury found 29-year-old Martre Tirik Oliver guilty of manslaughter in the first degree on Monday.<\/p>\n

His brother, Martese Oliver, was found shot and killed outside a hotel near the 8200 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. U.S. Marshals then arrested<\/a> Martre three days later outside his home in Renton, Washington.<\/p>\n

The hotel, which was operating as a Howard Johnson Inn at the time and was later rebranded as a Quality Inn, has a long history of deadly shootings and has since shut down<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Quality Inn on Northeast 82nd Avenue, which now has a \u2018hotel closed\u2019 sign on Feb. 7, 2025 (KOIN). <\/p>\n

According to the Oregonian<\/a>, the brothers had driven there together from Martese\u2019s apartment in Reston to accompany two women who were being sold for sex. After they got into a fight and Martese punched him, Martre responded by firing three gunshots.<\/p>\n

One of the bullets hit Martese in his upper thigh, severing his femoral artery and ultimately killing him.<\/p>\n

The jury acquitted Martre of second-degree murder but found him guilty of first-degree manslaughter. His sentencing is scheduled for March 20, 2026.<\/p>\n
