WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) \u2014 The governor of West Virginia said Monday there have been some positive signs as one of the two West Virginia National Guard members shot in an \u201cambush-style\u201d attack tries to recover in the hospital.<\/p>\n
RELATED | TIMELINE: How the National Guard shooting in DC unfolded and what happens now<\/a><\/p>\n Sarah Beckstrom<\/a>, 20, of Summerville, died on Thanksgiving Day after she and 24-year-old Andy Wolfe <\/a>of Martinsburg were shot Wednesday afternoon while on patrol outside the entrance to the Farragut West Metro station at 17th & I Street in Northwest Washington.<\/p>\n At a Monday press conference, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey said that although Wolfe was in \u201cserious condition,\u201d there were some positive signs.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were told that Andrew was asked if he could hear the nurse who asked the question, to give a thumbs up,\u201d Morrisey said. \u201cAnd he did respond. We were told that he also wiggled his toes, so we take that as a positive sign.\u201d<\/p>\n Morrisey said Wolfe\u2019s mother, Melody, is asking everyone to pray for her son.<\/p>\n
