BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A 38-year-old man, who allegedly fired a gun, was arrested early Tuesday morning after a standoff in east Bakersfield.<\/p>\n
The Bakersfield Police Department said on December 2, 2025, at about 2:05 a.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 900 block of Kentucky Street.<\/p>\n
When they arrived, neighbors directed officers to a back house on a property, where a man had barricaded himself inside.<\/p>\n
Police said officers learned through witness information and video surveillance that the man had fired a gun from the back house. Officers repeatedly called out to him and asked him to come out safely, but he refused.<\/p>\n
According to police, members of the SWAT team responded to assist. Despite continued verbal efforts and the use of noise and flash devices, the man still refused to exit.<\/p>\n
Officers then used a chemical irritant to encourage the man to get out of the home. This resulted in the man safely getting out of the home.<\/p>\n
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Uriel Bonilla, was taken into custody without further incident. Bonilla was arrested for charges including reckless discharge of a firearm.<\/p>\n
He was booked into the Kern County Jail. This investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
