HUNT VALLEY, Md. (TNND) \u2014 A Massachusetts Democratic congresswoman announced Tuesday she will not run for the Senate and will instead campaign for reelection to the House.<\/p>\n
Representative Ayanna Pressley, whose district includes areas around and south of Boston, said in a statement <\/a>she prefers to remain in the House since the White House has targeted her constituents. Pressley also noted she has only one more year left with her daughter before she leaves for college.<\/p>\n \u201cHearing from so many people from throughout our Commonwealth encouraging me to run for the United States Senate was deeply humbling and a testament to the strength of our movement,\u201d Pressley said. \u201cIt would be an honor to serve the whole Commonwealth \u2013 but with our daughter in her last year at home before college and a district that has been in the crosshairs of this White House, I am certain that the Massachusetts 7th is where I belong in this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear how exactly Trump has targeted Pressley\u2019s district. She has criticized the president\u2019s policies <\/a>as harmful to vulnerable communities, although Trump has defended his administration\u2019s work for the lower class.<\/p>\n Pressley would have campaigned for progressive Senator Ed Markey’s seat.
