AND IN SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, THE MANHUNT CONTINUES FOR THE ATTACKERS, WHO TARGETED A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR A TWO YEAR OLD. THAT MASS SHOOTING WAS AROUND 6:00 SATURDAY NIGHT AT A BANQUET HALL OFF OF LUCILLE ROAD. AUTHORITIES NOW SAY TWO MORE PEOPLE WERE INJURED. THEY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THEM INITIALLY BECAUSE THOSE VICTIMS HAD BEEN GRAZED BY BULLETS, AND THEY TOOK THEMSELVES TO THE HOSPITAL. SO THIS BRINGS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE INJURED TO 13. AND THAT’S IN ADDITION TO THE THREE CHILDREN AND A 21 YEAR OLD MAN WHO WERE KILLED. AND WE NOW KNOW THE NAME OF THE FOURTH PERSON WHO DIED IN THAT SHOOTING. A GOFUNDME HAS IDENTIFIED THE EIGHT YEAR OLD VICTIM AS JURNEE ROSE GUERRERO. SHE IS DESCRIBED AS KIND AND PLAYFUL. JOURNEY. ROSE WAS IN THE THIRD GRADE. SHE LOVED TO TELL HER FAMILY ABOUT WHAT SHE LEARNED EVERY DAY AT SCHOOL. FRIENDS AND FAMILY HAVE IDENTIFIED THE OTHER THREE VICTIMS NOW, AND WE CAN ALL SEE WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE, EIGHT YEAR OLD MAYA AND 14 YEAR OLD AMARI PETERSON, AS WELL AS 21 YEAR OLD SUSANA ARCHULETA, STOCKTON VICE MAYOR JASON LEE ADDING THIS TODAY, MAKING AN ANNOUNCEMENT THAT MUSICAL ARTIST BURNA BOY HAS OFFERED TO COME FORWARD AND COVER THE FUNERAL COSTS FOR ALL OF THOSE KILLED IN THE MAYHEM THAT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY NIGHT. AS AUTHORITIES CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR THOSE SHOOTERS, WE ARE CHECKING BACK IN WITH STATE LEADERS FOR THEIR RESPONSES TO THE INVESTIGATION AND THAT SEARCH FOR THE SUSPECTS. KCRA 3 POLITICAL DIRECTOR ASHLEY ZAVALA HAS THE LATEST NOW ON THE STATE’S TOP COP, ROB BONTA, AND GOVERNOR GAVIN NEWSOM. STATE LEADERS DON’T SEEM TO HAVE PLANS TO HEAD DOWN TO STOCKTON IN RESPONSE TO THE MASS SHOOTING THERE ANYTIME SOON. PLEASURE. THANKS FOR HAVING ME. CALIFORNIA ATTORNEY GENERAL ROB BONTA HELD A GIVING TUESDAY EVENT IN SACRAMENTO. THERE, I ASKED HIM ABOUT THE RESOURCES HE OFFERED TO INVESTIGATORS IN SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, AND WE REACHED OUT AND OFFERED SUPPORT. OF COURSE, WE OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO ALL THOSE IMPACTED. JUST A TRAGIC INCIDENT. AGAIN, NEVER NORMAL AND NEVER ACCEPTABLE. UNFORTUNATELY, IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WE LEAD THE WORLD IN MANY THINGS THAT ARE GREAT. WE ALSO LEAD IN SOMETHING THAT IS HORRIFIC AND AWFUL, AND THAT IS GUN VIOLENCE. AND NO PART OF OUR COUNTRY IS IMMUNE, INCLUDING THE GREAT GOLDEN STATE OF CALIFORNIA. AND SO WE HAVE REACHED OUT TO OFFER SUPPORT, AS WE OFTEN DO IN TIMES OF TRAGEDY. THAT’S PART OF THE SPIRIT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT HERE TODAY WORKING TOGETHER, COLLABORATING, PARTNERING, OFFERING RESOURCES, PERSONNEL IF NEEDED. BUT THE LEAD AGENCIES ON THE GROUND, I TAKING THE LEAD THERE OKAY. THEY HAVEN’T THEY HAVEN’T ACCEPTED YOUR OFFER FOR SUPPORT. NO NOT THAT I’M AWARE OF. OKAY. I MEAN, DO YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS ABOUT THE SUSPECTS NOT BEING IN CUSTODY AND JUST SORT OF WHERE THIS INVESTIGATION STANDS NOW THAT IT’S BEEN MORE THAN 48 HOURS SINCE THIS TRAGEDY HAPPENED? WE WE HAVE A LOT OF FAITH AND TRUST IN OUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT PARTNERS ACROSS THE STATE, INCLUDING THOSE IN THE STOCKTON AREA. BOTH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT, WE HAVE WORKED VERY SUCCESSFULLY ALL ACROSS THE STATE WITH OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT PARTNERS, FEDERAL, LOCAL, FELLOW STATE PARTNERS. AND I THINK THAT PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL DO WHAT THEY ALWAYS DO. SOMETIMES IT TAKES TIME, BUT I KNOW THAT THEY’RE HARD AT WORK CHASING DOWN CLUES AND DOING WHAT THEY DO BEST, HELPING HOLD THOSE ACCOUNTABLE WHO HARMED OUR COMMUNITIES. MEANWHILE, GOVERNOR GAVIN NEWSOM ORDERED FLAGS AT HALF STAFF MONDAY FOR THE MASS SHOOTING. HE HAS NOT COMMENTED ON THE MASS SHOOTING SINCE NEWSOM TUESDAY LEFT THE STATE FOR A CROSS-COUNTRY TRIP TO NEW YORK, THEN WASHINGTON, D.C., AND ARIZONA FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK. IT’S FOR A MIX OF POLITICAL AND OFFICIAL STATE BUSINESS, ACCORDING TO HIS OFFICE. NEWSOM’S OFFICE SAID HE’LL BE BACK ON SATURDAY. THANK YOU FOR JOINING US TODAY IN SACRAMENTO, ASHLEY ZAVALA. KCRA THREE NEWS. As the Stockton community mourns and works to move forward, state leaders have offered support. On Tuesday, California Attorney General Rob Bonta said his office has offered support in the Stockton investigation. “We have reached out to offer support,” Bonta said at a Giving Tuesday event in Sacramento. “We often do in times of tragedy, that’s part of the spirit we’re talking about here today. Working together, collaborating, partnering, offering resources, personnel if needed. But the lead agencies on the ground are taking the lead there.”Bonta also expressed his condolences for the victims. “Our hearts go out to all those impacted. Just a tragic incident. Again, never normal, and never acceptable. Unfortunately, in the United States of America, we lead the world in many things that are great. We also lead in something that is horrific and awful, and that is gun violence,” Bonta said. “No part of our country is immune, including the great Golden State of California.” KCRA 3’s Ashley Zavala asked the Attorney General if his office’s offer of support in the Stockton shooting investigation was accepted.”No, not that I’m aware of,” Bonta answered. However, he shared that he’s confident that the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is able to handle the investigation. “We have a lot of faith and trust in our local law enforcement partners across the state, including those in the Stockton area—both the police department, the sheriff’s department,” Bonta said. “We have worked very successfully all across the state with our law enforcement partners, federal, local, fellow state partners. And I think that public safety officers and law enforcement will do what they always do. Sometimes it takes time. But I know that they’re hard at work chasing down clues and doing what they do best: helping hold those accountable who harmed our communities.”On Monday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol to honor the victims. But as of Tuesday, there has been no further comment from Gov. Newsom on the shooting. The governor left the state on Tuesday for a cross-country trip to New York, Washington, D.C., and Arizona for a mix of political and official state business. He plans to return on Saturday.KCRA reached out to Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi for comment on the governor’s departure, but has not heard back.
