(File photo by Dave Thomas\/Times of San Diego)<\/p>\n<p>The city of Lemon Grove and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtfhsd.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Regional Task Force on Homelessness<\/a> closed a long-standing encampment Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The site, along North Avenue, is one of several along state Route 94 the city and task force are tackling using an $8.4 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcd.ca.gov\/grants-and-funding\/programs-active\/encampment-resolution-funding-program\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Encampment Resolution Fund<\/a> grant. The Lemon Grove project, after weeks of work, has seen more than 30 people staying at the encampment placed into housing with case management and ongoing support.<\/p>\n<p>A similar project targeted an encampment straddling the border of Oceanside and Carlsbad and showed success in getting people off the street, according to a news release from the task force. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Collaboration works. Lemon Grove\u2019s long-standing encampment closes Wednesday, Oct. 15 thanks to Encampment Resolution project led by RTFH and the City of Lemon Grove.<br \/>\u2705 Encampment cleared<br \/>\u2705 Dozens of people now have homes. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/E0TUPVdYnT\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/E0TUPVdYnT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Regional Task Force on Homelessness (@RTFHSD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RTFHSD\/status\/1978172329600414146?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">October 14, 2025<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth projects demonstrate what\u2019s possible when collaboration is rooted in compassion, coordination, and accountability,\u201d said Tamera Kohler, CEO of the task force. \u201cThrough the state\u2019s Encampment Resolution Fund and strong partnerships with Lemon Grove and Oceanside, we\u2019re not only housing people \u2013 we\u2019re restoring safety, dignity and community for everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lemon Grove\u2019s effort involved multiple partners, including local landlords, nonprofits and healthcare providers.
