BERKELEY \u2014 A man died Wednesday afternoon from injuries suffered when he was struck by an Amtrak train in West Berkeley, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The name of the man, believed to be in his 30s, was not immediately released pending confirmation of his identity and notification of his family.<\/p>\n
The fatal collision happened about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Bancroft Way and Fourth Street.<\/p>\n
Initial reports were that the man was on the tracks when he was hit by an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train traveling from Oakland to Sacramento, authorities said.<\/p>\n
He was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.<\/p>\n
None of the 34 train passengers and crew members were injured.
