(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 The City of Bakersfield is hosting two Community Listening Sessions on Tuesday, December 9, for feedback ahead of searching for a new Chief of Police.<\/p>\n<p>It comes as<a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/bakersfield-police-chief-greg-terry-announces-retirement-after-nearly-six-years-kern-county-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Chief Greg Terry announced his retirement<\/a>, effective April 2026.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Bakersfield Police Chief Greg Terry\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/6725fedc-17ab-40d1-a23b-03aeaad88d35-large16x9_gregterryphoto.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Bakersfield Police Chief Greg Terry<\/p>\n<p>City officials said that before the search begins, City Manager Christian Clegg wants to hear from the public what they want to see in the next chief.<\/p>\n<p>City Manager Clegg will host two Community Listening Sessions to receive public feedback on the qualities and priorities the City should look for in a chief.<\/p>\n<p>There will be two Community Listening Sessions on Tuesday, December 9.<\/p>\n<p>The first will be in-person at noon at the Council Chambers, City Hall South, located at 1501 Truxtun Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>The second will be virtual at 7 p.m. through Microsoft Teams.
