QUINCY, Calif. (KOLO) – Two Reno residents died on Saturday, Dec. 6, in a shootout on US 395 near the Long Valley Agricultural Inspection Station that is located in Sierra County, Calif., according to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) Facebook post. <\/p>\n

The incident began at 8:50 a.m. after two vehicles with all Reno residents inside pulled to the right shoulder of US 395 and a confrontation ensued, the post said. <\/p>\n

When a CHP Portola Resident Post officer arrived on scene, they began shooting, the post said. <\/p>\n

The officer immediately detained everyone then began administering medical aid.<\/p>\n

Despite lifesaving efforts, two people died at the scene, the post said.<\/p>\n

The involved parties have been identified. <\/p>\n

At this time, there is no ongoing threat to public safety.<\/p>\n

Southbound US 395 was closed while the scene was processed. <\/p>\n

KOLO 8 has reached out to the Washoe County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office for the deceased\u2019s identities.<\/p>\n

Allied agencies assisted with security, highway closure, and the investigation. <\/p>\n

Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to call the Quincy CHP Office at (530) 283-1100. <\/p>\n
