(WOWT) &#8211; Nebraska has found their replacement at defensive coordinator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Less than a week after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wowt.com\/2025\/12\/01\/nebraska-football-parts-ways-with-defensive-coordinator-john-butler\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wowt.com\/2025\/12\/01\/nebraska-football-parts-ways-with-defensive-coordinator-john-butler\/\">the firing of John Butler<\/a>, ESPN\u2019s Pete Thamel says the Cornhuskers have hired San Diego State defensive coordinator Rob Aurich as the latest defensive play-caller.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sources: Nebraska has agreed to a three-year deal to make San Diego State&#8217;s Rob Aurich the school&#8217;s next defensive coordinator. He was also the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at the University of Idaho for two seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Aurich\u2019s defense put up 32 sacks as a team, and only allowed 12.5 points a game in the Mountain West Conference this season.
